TAMARA DURICKA
Journalist. Author. Editor. Speaker.
Hello.
Tamara Duricka Johnson is a journalist with nearly thirty years of experience and author of the award-winning memoir "31 Dates in 31 Days."
Tamara is a newscast producer and writer at KTLA in Los Angeles and previously produced newscasts at television stations in Portland, Oregon, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Roanoke, Virginia. She was on the Emmy-winning writing staff of "Good Morning America" in New York City and, as a freelance journalist, she has contributed to The Los Angeles Times and USA Today.
She received her bachelor's degree from Roanoke College where she double-majored in English and Theatre. She graduated in just three years while juggling choir, early morning internships, and the Dean's List. She holds a master's degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, where she was in the inaugural class of the school's master of arts program. Her master's project was a radio documentary called "Celibacy and the City," focusing on the unique challenges facing single Mormons living in Manhattan.
She volunteers with WriteGirl, a non-profit group that helps nurture teenage writers in Los Angeles. She also spends her time working with college-hopefuls on their entrance essays and is proud to say that every person she's worked with has gotten into college, most with scholarships.
Tamara lives in Los Angeles with her husband, who was one of her memorable "31 Dates." The two continued dating after her project and a year later, were married. They've been married for 15 years and have three young daughters.
She also is a novice negotiator in constant practice with her three daughters.
